Davis Thompson became the 24th first-time PGA Tour winner at the John Deere Classic. He finished at 28-under to set the 72-hole scoring record at TPC Deere Run.

The past two events saw him finish T9 at the U.S. Open and T2 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He shot a final-round 7-under 64 to win by four shots over C.T. Pan, Michael Thorbjornsen and amateur standout Luke Clanton.

Thompson came into Sunday with a two-shot lead. From his opening tee shot, the former Georgia Bulldog pressed down the accelerator and went nuclear. He made five birdies in his first six holes and over 120 feet of putts.

The 25-year-old put on a clinic as he gained +18 shots on the field in strokes gained total.

With an $8 million purse, Thompson took home $1,440,000 and earned 500 FedEx Cup points. He moved from No. 51 to No. 22 in the FedEx Cup playoff standings.

Pan and Thorbjornsen each took home $712,000. Since Clanton is an amateur, he did not earn anything. Hayden Springer, or Mr. 59, finished T7 and went home with $252,500.

Let’s break down the rest of the field to see how much each player made at the John Deere Classic.

Travelers prize money payout: Scottie Scheffler earns astonishing $3.6M travelers,prize,money,payout,scottie,scheffler,earns,astonishing,m,sbnation,com,front-page,golf,golf-pga-tour,golf-news

Scottie Scheffler earned his sixth PGA Tour victory since January 1 on Sunday as he defeated Tom Kim to win the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.

He officially won four of the eight Signature Events with the Travelers over. The former Texas Longhorn’s other two wins include the 2024 Players Championship and a second Masters in three years.

The only way to put it is that Scheffler is on a heater.

He is on one historic run as he became the latest player to win six or more times in a single season since Tiger Woods in 2009. The 28-year-old also became the first player since Arnold Palmer did it in 1962 to win six times before July 1.

With this victory, Scheffler took home a $3.6 million check, bringing his 2024 total to $27,696,858.

He continues to break his single-season record. With the Open Championship and FedEx Cup playoffs, there is no telling what the final total could be.

Since his first Signature Event victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 10, Scheffler has won roughly $23 million.

Kim also took home a nice $2.6 million check for finishing second behind one of his best friends. Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas and Akshay Bhatia split fifth place, each winning $702,500.

This week’s tournament did not feature a cut, so everyone who played received a check.

With a $20 million purse, let’s break down how much each player made at the Travelers Championship.

Bryson DeChambeau wins $4.3 million, see full U.S. Open payout bryson,dechambeau,wins,million,see,full,u,s,open,payout,sbnation,com,front-page,golf,us-open-golf,golf-majors,golf-pga-tour,golf-news,liv-golf

Bryson DeChambeau wins 43 million see full US Open payout

After two top 10s at the Masters and PGA Championship, Bryson DeChambeau came out on top at the 124th U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.

The LIV Golf captain held off Rory McIlroy, thanks to a phenomenal bunker shot he had on the 18th. His par save on the last gave DeChambeau the win by one, as he took home his second U.S. Open title since 2020.

His bank account will see $4.3 million added to it because of his win.

Funny enough, DeChambeau’s remarkable par save on 18 reminded many of his hero, Payne Stewart, who holed an 18-footer to win in 1999. Granted, DeChambeau’s par attempt was a little shorter than Stewart’s, but it was a special moment for the former SMU golfer.

In his three major championship starts this season, DeChambeau has won a total of $6,993,000. His tie for 6th at the Masters awarded him with $695,000. He then took home $1,998,000 for placing second at the PGA Championship and won $4,300,000 this week at the U.S. Open.

McIlory’s solo second place did earn him $2,322,000, bringing his season total to $10,034,665, which puts him third behind Xander Schauffele and Scottie Scheffler.

Ludvig Åberg tied for 12th with Sergio Garcia and added $409,279 to his bank account. The Swedish phenom now sits fifth on the PGA Tour money list for the 2024 season, as he has earned a total of $7,686,998 to date.

Let’s check out how much each player made this week at Pinehurst.
